Norman W. Diece, 94, of Janesville died peacefully at Rock Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, July 21, 2015. Norman was born in his family’s log cabin on June 9, 1921 in LaValle, WI. He was the son of Robert and Lena (Manglos) Diece. He graduated from Reedsburg, High School in 1940. He proudly served his country during World War II from December 10, 1942 to November 12, 1945 with Company M, 151 infantry 38th division of the U.S. Army in the South Pacific. He received a Bronze Star Medal for his service.
Norman married Leona Landsinger on June 21, 1946. They moved to Janesville in 1950. She died on June 14, 2005. Norman’s occupation was a truck driver. He retired from Beatrice Foods of Beloit in 1981. Mr. Diece was admired for his hard work ethic and strong Christian faith. His hobby was woodworking and he blessed his family with many hand made treasures. Norman was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church and a life member of Kienow-Hilt V.F. W. Post # 1621, Orfordville American Legion Post ## 209 and DAV # 6 where he was a past commander.
Norman is survived by 4 children, David (Karen) Diece and Dawn (Dale) Oas both of Janesville, Daniel (Susan) Diece of Beloit, and Darlyne (David) Keller of Wausau, WI; grandchildren, Emily (Sam) Van Galder and Evan Diece, Joshua (Rebecca Hanson}Oas, Joseph (Jin Won) Oas, Jessica (Chris) Adamski and Jennifer Oas, Rachel (Jordan) Balcerzak, Matthew and Zachary Keller; 3 great-grandchildren Samara, Jagger and Carter Oas; sisters-in-law, Marian Diece, Marcella Norton, Dorothy Landsinger and Margie Landsinger, brother-in-law, Earl Norton, several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by all of his siblings, Ethel Roloff, Ivan Diece, Bob Diece,Betty Dunse and Kenneth Diece , sisters-in-law, Katherine Diece and Karen Landsinger, brothers-in-law, Hubert Roloff,Harold, Ernest, Leo and Marvin Landsinger.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. Daniel Decker will officiate. Visitation will be at the church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Milton Lawns Memorial Park with military rites by Kienow-Hilt V.F.W. Post # 1621. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church or a veterans organization of the donor’s choice. The Diece family is being assisted by Henke-Clarson Funeral Home.
